Example of use (in Norwegian)
We have about 27 million personal records and 1,2 milion records about properties. Individual items are about people who lived in Norway from about 1650 to 2000, where we expect that virtually all people who lived in the country for the period 1801 to 1910 are included. The most important information about people's first name, last name and year for events in their lives. Often also their occupation, and always with a form of geographically affiliation. All names should be as they exist in the source.
The challenge is to search the data where names can be written in such diverse ways. We also need better tools for accurate tagging of the material we receive, regard to what is forename, surname and name of places. We use our own data that is already tagged to tag incoming material, but this could be improved with better tools for name recognition. Our data may also provide a basis for research and construction of tools for text technology.
